Day 1 – July 16, 2025 (Wednesday)

The first day of our teaching practice began at 9:15 a.m. We were warmly welcomed by the Headmaster, Mr. Gopakumar G, who gave us necessary instructions regarding the functioning of the school and the general discipline to be maintained. After signing the attendance register, we were introduced to our respective mentor teachers.

For the Physical Science optional trainees, teachers Vrinda and Reji were our guiding mentors. They provided us with the class timetable, portions to be handled, and other necessary details. The day was mostly spent attending and observing classes, getting familiar with the school environment, and understanding students’ learning behavior.

Day 2 – July 17, 2025 (Thursday)

On the second day, we prepared our lesson plans and began teaching our assigned topics. The mentor teachers provided valuable feedback on our performance. We also interacted with students and assisted in managing classroom activities. This day helped us understand effective classroom strategies, time management, and ways to engage students in learning.

Day 3 – July 18, 2025 (Friday)

The third day was dedicated to the preparation of an exhibition related to International Moon Day (July 20). Under the guidance of our mentor teachers, we helped students prepare charts, models, and posters about the Moon, lunar phases, Apollo missions, and other space-related themes. The activity encouraged student participation, teamwork, and promoted scientific curiosity and creativity.

Reflection

The first week of our teaching practice was a memorable and enriching experience. We learned how to adapt theoretical knowledge into practical teaching. It also strengthened our communication and classroom management skills. The International Moon Day exhibition preparation added a creative and inspiring dimension to our teaching journey and reminded us of the importance of connecting academic learning with real-world events.

Overall, the week gave us a solid foundation for our upcoming teaching sessions and helped us grow both as learners and future educators.
