Teaching practice phase I week 2( july 21 to 26 2025)
Teaching Practice Phase I – Week 2 (July 21–26, 2025)

Introduction
The second week of our teaching practice at Government Higher Secondary School, Koickal, Kollam , began on Monday, 21st July 2025. This week was particularly memorable and productive as it included the Science Exhibition “Chandrolsavam 2025”, organized in connection with International Moon Landing Day. The week helped us strengthen our teaching experience while also participating in the organization of a large-scale school event.
Day 1 – July 21, 2025 (Monday)
The most important highlight of this week was the Science Exhibition conducted on 21st July 2025, commemorating International Moon Landing Day. The exhibition was named “Chandrolsavam 2025” and was organized under the guidance of our Headmaster, Mr. Gopakumar G, and the support of all staff and teacher trainees.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. S. Jayan, Deputy Mayor of Kollam Corporation, and the Astrological Exhibition was inaugurated by Srimati S. Savitha Devi, Educational Standing Committee Chairperson, Kollam Corporation.
Students actively participated in the exhibition. The school corridors were beautifully decorated with working models, creative charts, and writings related to space and science. A telescope was set up for students to observe the Moon, and two students dressed as astronauts performed a skit demonstrating the first moon landing, which was truly fascinating. The working models included rockets, satellites, and lunar modules, and students confidently explained their creations to the visitors.
The entire event was vibrant, informative, and successful, highlighting students’ enthusiasm for science and creativity.
Also normal classes were conducted after the science exhibition.
Days 2–6 (July 22–26, 2025)
For the rest of the week, we continued our regular classroom teaching as per our assigned timetable. Each trainee taught the concerned portions of their respective subjects. Lesson plans were prepared in advance, and we received constructive feedback from our mentor teachers, which helped us refine our teaching methods.
We also helped the science department in winding up the exhibition materials and restoring classrooms to their regular setting. The week gave us deeper insight into classroom management, student engagement, and collaborative work among teachers.
Reflection
The second week of our teaching practice was both challenging and rewarding. The Chandrolsavam 2025 Science Exhibition gave us an opportunity to integrate our theoretical knowledge with real-world application and experience team coordination in a school setting. It was inspiring to see students’ excitement and creativity while preparing and explaining their exhibits.
Along with our regular classroom sessions, the experience helped us develop organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Overall, the week was a valuable blend of academic engagement and experiential learning, which enhanced our confidence as future teachers.
