Teaching practice phase I week 3
Teaching Practice Phase I – Week 3 (July 28–August 1, 2025)
Introduction
The third week of our first phase of teaching practice at Government Higher Secondary School, Koickal, Kollam, began on Monday, 28th July 2025. After the successful completion of the previous week’s Science Exhibition “Chandrolsavam 2025,” this week mainly focused on regular classroom teaching and academic progress in the prescribed syllabus.
Weekly Activities (July 28–August 1, 2025)
During this week, all teacher trainees continued with their regular classes as per the timetable provided by our mentor teachers. We taught the assigned topics in our respective subjects, applying the teaching strategies and methods learned in our B.Ed. course.
Lesson plans were prepared and implemented daily. We made use of teaching aids and activity-oriented approaches to make learning more effective and interactive.
We also paid close attention to students’ responses and learning levels, modifying our lessons to better suit their understanding. Apart from classroom teaching, we participated in school assembly, discipline duty, and other routine school activities, helping us get a more holistic view of school life.
Reflection
The third week of our teaching practice was relatively calm and systematic compared to the previous weeks. It gave us the opportunity to gain more confidence in classroom handling and to strengthen our teaching and communication skills.
By teaching the concerned topics effectively and maintaining discipline in class, we learned the importance of consistency, preparation, and patience in the teaching profession. Overall, this week contributed significantly to our professional growth and classroom experience as trainee teachers
