Teaching practice phase I week 6

 Teaching Practice Phase I – Week 6 (August 18–19, 2025)

Introduction

As part of our B.Ed. curriculum, we continued our first phase of teaching practice at Government Higher Secondary School, Koickal, Kollam, during the week of August 18 to August 19, 2025. This short week was mainly devoted to the Onam Examinations conducted at the school.

Activities of the Week

During these days, the Onam examinations were held for various classes. The school was fully engaged in exam-related activities, and all teachers, including the teacher trainees, participated in conducting the exams smoothly.

We, the teacher trainees, were assigned duties as invigilators in different classrooms under the supervision of our mentor teachers. It was a valuable experience to understand the discipline, procedures, and responsibilities involved in exam supervision.

Through this experience, we learned how to manage examination halls, distribute and collect question papers and answer sheets, and maintain fairness and silence during exams. It also helped us observe how students approached exams and how teachers coordinated the process effectively.

Reflection

Although there were no regular classes during these two days, our involvement in the Onam examination duty gave us practical experience in the administrative side of school activities. We understood the importance of maintaining order, time management, and teacher responsibility during examination periods.

Overall, this short but meaningful week helped us realize that a teacher’s role extends beyond teaching—it includes guiding, organizing, and ensuring a smooth academic environment for students
