Teaching practice phase I week 9
Teaching Practice Phase I – Week 9 (September 22–26, 2025)
Introduction
The ninth week of our teaching practice at Government Higher Secondary School, Koickal, Kollam, was filled with inspiring and educational experiences. The week combined both academic instruction and co-curricular activities aimed at the overall development of students. This week provided us with opportunities to enhance our teaching skills and to participate in school-level programmes that promoted student motivation and creativity.
Day 1 – September 22, 2025 (Monday)
On this day, a motivational class was organized for the students focusing on the theme “Self-Realisation and Well-being.” The session aimed to help students understand the importance of knowing themselves, developing positive attitudes, and maintaining emotional and mental well-being. The class encouraged students to reflect on their goals, values, and inner strengths. It was an engaging and inspiring session that motivated both students and teachers alike.
Day 2 – September 23, 2025 (Tuesday)
A Science Exhibition was conducted on this day, providing students with a platform to display their innovative models and creative ideas. The exhibition showcased various projects related to scientific principles and their applications in everyday life. Students actively participated by presenting their models and explaining their working principles. As teacher trainees, we assisted in organizing the exhibition, guiding students, and evaluating the exhibits. The event helped promote scientific curiosity, teamwork, and experiential learning among students.
Days 3–5 (September 24–26, 2025)
During the remaining days of the week, we continued with our regular teaching schedule, handling our concerned topics in the assigned classes. Lesson plans were implemented effectively, and we applied the teaching methods and strategies learned during our B.Ed. training. The mentor teachers observed our classes and provided valuable feedback to improve our classroom interaction and instructional techniques.
We also engaged in other school activities, maintained discipline in the classrooms, and assisted students who needed individual attention. The week’s experiences helped strengthen our confidence and classroom management skills.
Reflection
The ninth week of our teaching practice was both motivational and insightful. The session on self-realisation and well-being reminded us of the importance of mental and emotional growth in education. The Science Exhibition encouraged us to integrate creativity with academic learning and recognize the importance of experiential education.
Through continuous teaching and participation in co-curricular events, we developed greater patience, adaptability, and professional responsibility. Overall, the week contributed significantly to our personal and professional growth as future educators.
